PHILOSOPHY:
The Brandon Chamber of Commerce offers a full range of business awards for our membership to strive for and be nominated for. Among other things you will: Recognize, celebrate and profile the accomplishments of your business;
Motivate members to excel within their respective businesses while also giving back to the community;
Raise the profile of the Brandon Chamber of Commerce within the community and within the membership; and
Offer added value to your Brandon Chamber of Commerce membership, thus increasing the Brandon Chamber of Commerce public profile.

PHILOSOPHY:
This award recognizes the accomplishments of a business owner who has succeeded through innovation and risk-taking or achieved success in introducing new products or services or growing an existing product line through a unique approach.
CRITERIA:
Explain how the nominated business owner has demonstrated innovation in as many of the applicable areas listed below:
- Unique product or service
- Operations
- Marketing
- Selling locally or exporting
- Employee attraction and retention
- Business systems
- Customer service
- Overcoming adversity
**The nominees must have been in business for 3-7 years.
**The recipient of this award will receive a cheque for $2000
Business Excellence Awards
x2 (15 employees or under & over 15 employees)
PHILOSOPHY:
Honours a business that demonstrates continual business excellence through positive business growth, exemplifies superior customer service and embraces an outstanding commitment to quality.
CRITERIA:
Explain how this business has demonstrated excellence and commitment to quality in as many of the applicable areas listed below:
- A mission statement, vision, or goal for the business
- Exceptional customer service philosophy and practices
- Product service offerings
- Positive business growth
Business Builder Of The Year
PHILOSOPHY:
To create an honour roll designed to recognize those who have successfully achieved, toiled and contributed to Brandon's success through a lifetime commitment to business and community service. This award is differentiated from Business Person of the Year in that it recognizes those who have finished/are finishing their business careers as opposed to those at their peak.
CRITERIA:
Explain how this business owner has demonstrated a lifetime achievement in business and community service in as many of the applicable areas listed below:
- Business achievement and growth
- Employment growth
- Contribution to the industry and community
- Overall positive impact on community through sprit, drive and vision
- Volunteer service and leadership
Business Person Of The Year
PHILOSOPHY:
To recognize a business person that exemplifies outstanding business practices and achievements, that demonstrates leadership, vision, and the creation of economic growth, while contributing to the community.
CRITERIA:
- Why is the nominee a model for business excellence?
- What achievements of the nominee best illustrate leadership and vision?
- What practices employed by the nominee best demonstrate a high standard of ethical practices and professionalism?
- How has the nominee invested in Brandon?
- How has the nominee's success created employment in Brandon?
- How has the nominee's success benefited other businesses in Brandon?
- In what ways has this individual volunteered their service to the community?
Rules And Regulations
1. Nominees may receive an award in one category only. If a nominee is a finalist in more than one category, their submission will stand in the category where they have achieved the highest score.
2. Nomination packages must be for one business only.
3. A separate nomination package must be submitted for each award category in which the nominee is to be considered.
4. A business may nominate themselves for an award, with the exception of the Business Person Of The Year.
5. A business may be re-nominated in any future year.
6. The Brandon Chamber of Commerce reserves the right to limit the number of selected nominees, and/or withhold an award in any category.
7. Nomination packages will not be returned. Please do not include materials that you would like returned.
8. Tapes, videos or other additional information will not be accepted.
9. All applicants must be a chamber member in good standing.
10. Nominators or nominees shall provide a minimum of two (2) letters in direct support of the nomination.
11. After awards are presented, all of the nomination information is destroyed.
Selection Process
1. All submissions received before the deadline shall be forwarded to the Business Development Committee for review and scoring based on the criteria stipulated.
2. The Business Committee shall forward scoring results for all nominees along with a recommended award recipient for each category to the Brandon Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors to be voted on by the directors.
3. The Outstanding Entrepreneur of the Year Award and Business Builder of the Year will be presented to recipients at the October Luncheon. The Business Excellence Awards and Business Person of the Year will be presented to the recipients at the Annual Dinner Awards Gala each March.
